Need a seven-seater with good fuel economy

I am launching a private hire taxi firm and want to buy a seven-seater. I am in the budget between £30,000 - £35,000 and will be doing an annual mileage greater then 25,000 miles. I am looking for a car that gives outstanding mpg, is reliable and spacious - which seven seater would you recommend?

For outstanding mpg and reliability: a Toyota Prius Plus. But not spacious. The latest VWs have vastly improved, low NOx 2.0 litre diesel engines, so a Sharan or Alhambra 2.0TDI would do the job if you don't mind 'Adding Blue'. Touran not bigger than a Prius Plus. Or, more practical altogether, a VW Caddy Maxi Life 2.0TDI.

Strong yet frugal diesel engines. Clever use of space inside with integrated child seats. Standard DAB. Practical sliding rear side door.
Proper seven-seat practicality which is more than you can say for most SUVs, practical and spacious even with all seven seats occupied, sliding rear doors are a real boon especially the electric versions.
