Dealer Loan Car
My Nissan dealer is to provide a loan car when mine is being repaired. They have requested my National Insurance Number. During these times of identity theft I wonder if it is government legislation which says I should provide this information or just the dealer requirement? I feel it would be wiser not to let them have my N.I. number on their records. Hope you can advise. Thank You.

They want your NI number to check your driving record with the DVLA for insurance purposes. Instead of giving it to them you can supply the information to them yourself either as a code or as a print out via: www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
