BMW 1 Series tax class error

I emailed you yesterday regarding the the cost of tax for a BMW 1 Series 2007 57 plate vehicles as some are 123 CO2 and others are 119g/km but they both have the same engine. You say the size of tyres may make a difference but both vehicles I am looking at are fitted with the standard 16-inch rims and are both registered October 2007?

Sorry, I should have checked our own entry at: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/bmw/1-series-e81e87-.../ Though the cars were registered the same date, the difference comes from the build date. 123g/km is before July 2007. 119g/km is after July 2007.

118d: Second generation common-rail diesel engine with aluminium crankcase achieves zero to 62mph in 8.9 seconds (9.0 seconds for five door) before going on to a top speed of 130mph. Output is 143hp (up 21hp) while peak torque is 300Nm (up 20Nm). Combined fuel consumption is 60.1mpg (improved by 19 per cent) and CO2 emissions are 123g/km (down 18 per cent).

Mods from July 2007 mean that BMW 118d now records 62.8mpg combined and CO2 emissions of 119g/km – putting it into the Band B category for Vehicle Excise Duty. The BMW 118d now costs just £35 a year to tax.
