Why is the new Volvo 1.6D Drive engine not Euro 5 compliant?
I note that Volvo have announced their 2011 range and have made their 2.0 and 2.4 diesel engines Euro 5 compliant, ie D3 (2.0), D4 (163bhp) and D5 (205bhp), but have left their 1.6D Drive as Euro 4 compliant. Is there a reason for this? I thought the 1.6D would be a best seller, or are they waiting for their new Chinese owners to invest in an new engine or source a new engine from Ford?

Might be because they did not want to fit a diesel particulate filter to it.
