Why won't my Astra start?

I was driving my 2005 Vauxhall Astra (automatic) up a small hill and it started to struggle. All the dash lights came on and pulled over. However, after turning the engine off, the car wouldn't start again. Any idea what's going on?

If this is an automated manual, then either the clutch or the actuator or both have failed.
