Should I sell my 2000 BMW 5 Series now or keep it?
I own a BMW 528i first registered in January 2000. It has done nearly 230,000 miles and has never let me down. For the past two or three years I have been considering buying a younger model (in fact possibly the same again as this is my fifth BMW) but, since the car sits out in the drive in all weathers, I am reluctant to give it up. It has been regularly serviced and always passes its MoT. Am I foolish to rely on a car of this vintage?

Actually this is not unusual performance for this car. They do far greater mileages in mainland Europe. But yours is now 13 years old and worth too little as a part exchange, so you might as well soldier on with it until something breaks that costs more to replace than the car is worth.
