Buying a car for use in Spain

We have an apartment in Mallorca, Spain and currently rent cars. This works well, as we have found a decent private operator, but are looking for a slightly better standard of car as we increase our use out there. We have a budget of £10,000 to spend, but notice that cars are quite expensive in Spain. Would it be better to buy a car in the UK and drive it out?

Your most sensible solution is to check out the car supermarkets selling ex-rental cars in the Barcelona area of Catalonia. Then the car will already be registered in Spain with LHD and all you have to do is ferry it out to Mallorca.

Buying LHD in the UK is more expensive than buying in Spain. Buying RHD is much cheaper, but has the disadvantages of the wheel being on the wrong side. You could get a quote from your assessor for registering a RHD car for you.
