Should a dealer warranty cover a faulty DPF?

We recently purchased a 2009 Honda Accord Tourer, with 62,500 miles and dealer warranty. After three weeks, the DPF light came on and the dealership sent the car to a Honda garage. After some tests the Honda garage carried out a DPF regeneration, but told us there is a high probability of the problem returning and it will need a DPF replacement at a cost of £1000.

The garage we bought the car from have said it is a serviceable item and therefore our problem to sort out. Do we have any recourse with dealership under 'sale of goods and services act', given that the problem emerged so quickly?

If you bought the car from a dealer, any fault that develops during the first 6 months that could have been developing on date of sale remains the responsibility of the dealer: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
