Which small diesel should I buy for my wife?

I am thinking of buying my wife a small diesel and was wondering which would be the best car?

Volkswagen small diesels are always impressive. At the moment the Polo is available with a 1.2 TDI (a perky little three-cylinder engine) and a 1.6 TDI (a four-cylinder). The 1.6 TDI is also available in the Skoda Fabia and SEAT Ibiza ranges. The Ibiza also comes with an older 1.4 TDI which is a little noisier but still a good choice. The other good diesel is the 1.5 dCi which you can find in Renaults (such as the Clio and Megane) and Nissans (such as the Note, Micra and Qashqai). Out of those, we'd go for the 1.6 TDI in the Volkswagen Polo or SEAT Ibiza.
