My Citroen C4 Picasso caught fire and damaged my house - do I need to claim through my insurance?

My 11-month-old Citroen C4 Picasso 5 VTR Diesel caught fire on my drive after travelling just three miles from work, causing damage to my house and the house next door. The car looks as if it is a complete write-off. I've had very little help from the manufacturer or dealer. I have been told by both that I have to go through my insurance, which will result in premium increases. Has anyone come across this problem before?

No history of self-immolating Picassos. Yes, you do have to go through your insurer, but if its fire investigator finds a fault with the car caused the fire then your insurer will take action against the manufacturer.
