Is the Qashqai 1.6DCI suitable for 12,000 miles a year, and if not can you recommend a petrol alternative?

One of the cars you have suggested is the Qashqai 1.6DCI, which I understand has a good diesel engine. However, as I stated in my query, I only do 12,000 miles a year and I have read (only yesterday in the Telegraph) that a minimum for a diesel is 15,000. I am also concerned about the Diesel Particulate Filter and Dual Mass Flywheel issues with today’s diesels. Please verify and if the diesel issues are as I stated, advise on high-seated petrol cars.

This engine has new technology to overcome the problems that blight diesel engines but, of course, only time will tell if the technology works. Otherwise, consider vehicles like the Renault Scenic 1.4TCE, Vauxhall Meriva 1.4T, Ford C-Max 1.6 Ecoboost.
