Buying a Mercedes-Benz CLK convertible

I am looking to buy a MB CLK Cabriolet as a retirement indulgence. I plan to spend £12,000 to £14,000 and am looking at the larger engined models. I think I will be buying an 2006 or 2007 model. Are there any big watch outs on reliability, any engines better than others?

I realise the fuel consumption will be high but can live with that. Is a very well specced car worth much more than a basic one?
