Keyless entry - risk of car theft?

I am looking to buy a new car and the model I am interested in has keyless entry. My friend has warned me against this and says that he read a recent article in a national newspaper highlighting an increasing number of cars being stolen without the keyfob being needed.

The car is accessed (either by jamming the remote locking or by simply smashing a window) then a device is connected to the car diagnostic port. The car security info is downloaded onto the device and then copied to a blank keyfob which is then used to unlock the car & drive it away.

As the driver's key has been used to take the vehicle, there have been subsequent problems with insurers rejecting the insurance claim.

This sounds very concerning - should I avoid keyless entry?
