Can you recommend an estate car with room for two sets of golf clubs?

Can you suggest an estate car that would accommodate two sets of golf clubs and trolleys? We are looking to spend no more than £20,000 plus whatever we can get for our current 2001 Focus estate. Our mileage is 12,000 per year but does include fairly frequent short trips. Does this suggest petrol rather than diesel? Would you recommend the new Focus estate?

I got 45mpg so a diesel does not have a very significant fuel economy advantage. Not having tested this car since 2006 I had forgotten about it, which was a mistake. No other hatchback offers such a commodious low, flat-floored loadspace.
