Could you recommend an economical company lease car capable of towing a caravan?

It's time to replace my company lease car again. My choice of car has to meet a tight window of requirements, balancing weight (for pulling a large caravan), economy for the 90 per cent of time I am not towing, lease cost (I pay excess over a limit) and CO2 emissions (for the car tax).

I have driven a Honda CR-V EX diesel for the last four years and have been very happy with it. I have narrowed down my choices this time around to another CR-V or a Freelander 2. I haven't tested the Freelander yet. What are your thoughts on the relative merits of these cars? Anything else I should be considering?

The KIA Sportage 1.7 diesel comes in at very low CO2, for low BIK, yet has good pulling power at low revs. Definitely worth a look. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/kia/sportage-2010/. Video: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/kia/sportage-2010/?s...t.

Alternatively, the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 is now surprisingly good, offering 45mpg running solo: www.honestjohn.co.uk/roadtests/mitsubishi/outlande.../

Stylish and upmarket looks. Good quality feel to the interior. Seven-year warranty as standard. Very low CO2 for an SUV. Well equipped.
