PHEVs are a good introduction to plug-in motoring. If you can charge a car at home and most of your day-to-day journeys are short (say 20 miles or less), a plug-in hybrid makes sense as it can run under electric power most of the time. You still have a petrol engine for longer journeys, though. A lot of PHEV buyers are fleets or company car drivers – the tax benefits of a PHEV for company car users are huge.
