Can I get an electric charging point installed without owning an electric car?

If I havent got an electric car, could I still apply for a grant and get a charger installed anyway for future use? Or must you own a electric car as a condition of the grant? I'm thinking it would be a good idea for selling the house if it already had one.

When you apply for the grant, the installer will check that you're eligible. To be eligible, you'll have to own (or have on order) an electric vehicle or a PHEV with CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km.
