My new Skoda Karoq 1.5 kangaroos in first gear. What do I do?

I was led to believe the kangarooing problem in 1.5-litre Volkswagen Group engines had been fixed. My Skoda Karoq 1.5-litre still stutters in first gear. It's a one-month-old car. What now?

We got in touch with Skoda to check as we're getting a few reports of similar issues recently, mostly with Skodas. Skoda told us: "As far as we are aware the software update has been a success and no further measures are planned. We are unaware of any current cases relating to the 1.5-litre engine. If a customer has an issue with their car, we recommend they contact ŠKODA customer services directly."

My view would be to get in touch with Skoda services to try to resolve the issue. If you do that and they say the issue has been fixed (or doesn't exist) and it hasn't been sorted, I would try to reject the car as a last resort for not being fit for purpose. This needs to be done with the dealer you purchased from within the first six months of owning it. You can find your consumer rights here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/how-to-reject-a-car-your-cons...s
