Are service books purely digital now?

I have been told that the service book is purely computerised for my new car - but surely I should have a paper service book so I can see a record and any future owners. Am I being told the truth here?

This is becoming increasingly common, which is why it's vital that car owners keep a paper history file for their vehicle. The dealer will provide paper print outs for every service, MoT and repair job, if asked.
