I'm tempted to buy an ex-demo car. Is that a good idea?

Are dealers' ex-demonstrator cars a good buy?

Yes. Demonstrators are usually highly-specced and can represent big savings over new. While they may have been test driven by many people, they're generally kept in excellent condition. Be cautious, though - is it really a demonstrator? If it's been registered to the manufacturer for a long period (six months or more) and has covered lots of miles, it may have been used as a hire car or similar. On the other hand, if it's pretty much new and has hardly been used, it's more likely to be a pre-registered model, intended to help the dealer meet targets. If you're not concerned about specifications (i.e. you don't want to pick colours and options yourself), they can be an excellent buy.
