Midlife carsis

At the moment I'm driving a VW Golf 1.6 and am planning to buy a new car but can't decide what. I'm nearly 53, the kids don't live at home and the dog's gone to the happy hunting ground in the sky so for the first time in almost 25 years I can please myself. I want to drive something 'fun' while I still can. I do drive occasionally to London so I want something that is comfortable on long journeys. I don't like the new Polo (too sedate) and I've looked at the Audi TT but am thinking maybe I'd be happier with a Golf GTi. Any suggestions gratefully received.

You could also check out the new VW Polo GTi. But here are links to a few sub Golf GTi alternatives, all with video tests. If I were you I’d go for the new Citroen DS3 1.6THP 150. Sweet engine, good 6-speed gearbox, great looking car, and sensible money:
