Golf warning

My sister has a 2005 Golf Mk5 GT 140bhp TDi with climate and DSG
without flappy paddles but, with climate, option pack, metallic paint etc., with approx 55k miles on it. It has been on a VW service plan purchased when she bought the car at 6-12 months old from the VW dealer. Well looked after. On the Vauxhall website, Glass’s guide indicates £8,760 tops for the Golf. Is this correct as it appears £500-600 higher than this time last year? She's bought a MINI 50th special edition 1.6D (rather than a petrol as highlighted in your breakdown of the MINI) with Auto. We only got £400 discount though, which I thought was poor. Can trade Golf in but dealer only offered £7,500 which I thought was an insult. Possibility of selling to local garage who paid reasonably well for my Vectra middle of last year. Alternative is BCA sure-sell.

Trade book for an 05 Golf GT TDI DSG 5-dr with 52k miles is a frankly bonkers £8,850, from which any dealer with any sense will immediately deduct £1,500 for the potential ABS/ESP problem. That explains the £7,500 offer. That's the problem with Mk Vs. Word has got out that the fault could cost the dealer £1,500.
