No, it's only necessary to check the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) fitted to diesel cars and vans first used on or after 1 July 2008.
Return to the MoT testing station and inform them they've made an error. If they refuse to correct the mistake, take your complaint to the DVSA: you have 28 days to make a complaint and it will offer you an appointment within five days to recheck your vehicle. You do not need to pay anything extra for this.
