Why are PHEVs more expensive than petrol equivalents?
I am thinking of buying a PHEV. I do around 7000 miles a year, many of them short runs of less than 20 miles. The car I’m looking at is approximately £6000 more than it’s pure petrol equivalent. It looks like a no brainier in favour of the pure petrol version - am I missing something?

Plug-in hybrid technology's still relatively new and expensive. It depends how keen you are to drive under electric power for short journeys - it's a pleasant way of travelling and has obvious environmental benefits, but it will be a while before you recoup the extra cost of the purchase price.
