I want to withdraw a claim with my insurer - will I lose my protected no claims discount?

I informed my insurer of a claim for damage which I was 100 per cent responsible for as no one else was involved. The garage I bought the car from has kindly agreed to repair the damage at a reduced cost. This means I will not have to claim through my insurer after all. Will I still lose my protected NCD and will I be charged a higher premium at renewal?

Contact your insurer and advise that you wish to withdraw the claim and have all details removed. If you are not claiming it should not affect your NCD, but you may find your insurer raise the premium due to increased risk. Raise a complaint and take to the Financial Ombudsman Service if they do.
