Suzuki Liana 1.6 GL hatch manual petrol - CV joint mystery - Joxtersenior
I've a July 2001 model, the first ones. The outer CV joints need replacing. However, all aftermarket parts have an OD which greater than those currently fitted (the originals). The new ones also have an ABS ring on them. My car doesn't have ABS.

Main dealers have been 100 pct unhelpful in telling me if the original models were fitted with ABS as standard and, what the OD of current OEM cv joints are. THey won't actually supply these, only the complete drive shaft.

I ask if there is any info out there and, would there be a problem in fitting the new, larger OD joints to my car?

Its most likley dearer to make to shafts than it is to supply one that will do both jobs! if it fits why worry. There are many cars out there with ABS rings running around and no abs.

Hi

What did you do in the end, fit new drive shafts?

I have a 2003 Liana saloon (GL - non ABS) and have the same issue as yours, we have already tried 3 CV joints, all wrong (or won't fit). There are 3 more coming tomorrow, but from your post it seems it may not work either.

Could you confirm if the complete drive shaft (with pre installed CV joints) is the answer? I have enquired around and can buy salvage drive shafts - my worry is will it fit the transmission and hub - no matter what model year or whether they are from an ABS car?

Why not ask Top Gear, they had a Liana which undoubtedly had tons of repair work such as this done on it !!
