Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Rats
Are there any members of the forum that are also in the Shell Drivers Club?

If so, can anyone confirm what the situation is with the bonus points vouchers please?

I have used three now, totally 900 bonus points, but none have been allocated to my account despite purchasing the required volume of fuel in the timespan against each voucher.

The first voucher was used on 15 October 2008 and I then had five fills between 10/10/08 & 10/11/08 which was the total required.

Any assistance appreciated

Cant really help but what is the voucher scheme?
I have a Shell Drivers Club Card which is swiped each time i refuel points allocated.

I choose to convert points to airmiles and use whenever.

Would a card not be simpler.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Rats
I have a card that I swipe, but have opted for the money off vouchers, they come through with each statement, also attached to the last few statements has been one or two bonus points vouchers.

They are supposed to give you extra points if you fill up five or six times within a month or so.

BTW, how quickly do you receive your statements, I have only just got my December 2008 one!!
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Falkirk Bairn
I did not get any bonus vouchers - this time or the last statement. Emailed a query a few months back and again 2/3 days ago. Did not get a reply now or in the past.................

I've had no end of issues with them, namly bonus points not being added etc. Although to print my money of vouchers, getting the points into my account is a mess. Even if they swipe my card sometimes they are not added!
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Rats
I have had to chase quite a few times to get the normal points added.........but lately they seem to go on much quicker.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the hassle, but as the local Shell station is normally the cheapest around, and the motor seems to run better, I would rather stick with it.....

It rubbish, but keep emailing them and they do sort the problems out eventually, so keep the message you send in your Sent Items.

I have had problems with not receiving the vouchers for money off fuel and earlier on some purchases not being added to the account.

Here are the rules...
If you buy more than 200 litres of fuel in any one month, you?ll earn two points per litre during that month.

Litres per month Total Points Earned
25 25
50 50
75 75
100 100
150 150
200 400
250 500
300 600
350 700

Generally speaking, 2 points = 1p

I had the same experience a while ago swapping over to the V-Power points card. But they are open to suggestions that they may not have correctly allocated all the points due. They asked me how many I thought I was missing so I told them I reckoned I was missing at least £200+ value in points they added them and some more there and then, no argument!

I also have concerns along with the OP about the x number of top ups in a period. I have on one the go at the moment for 4 x 25 litre fills of V Power for 300 extra points (I think.) I presented the offer voucher at the first fill up and they initialled it and said keep the voucher and present it each time which is not what it says in the promo details. The second time I presented it at another garage they said I didn't need to but still initialled it! I don't use the VPower diesel just the petrol for SWMBO's wheels.

I don't worry too much about the points - I prefer Shell Diesel (plus a splash of Millers) to any other fuel and it's no more expensive. The cash back is a bonus if I get it which I seem to and I guess it's right but knowing the Shell system and their history for screw ups, it may well be wrong.

I have been using the Shell points card(now V-power card for me) since it started. I initially had to wait nine months to get my points because "I was apparently not on their system- but my card was".Basically my card was registering points but they didn't know where to send the vouchers. I contacted them, and since then I have received over £50 in fuel vouchers. As I often exceed 200 litres of V-power per month, it makes it a good scheme for me, and after the initial glitch I have had no problems. A guy at Shell explained to me that the extra points coupons should be handed over and retained by the petrol station. If its a Shell station they will swipe it and retain it. If the Shell station is an Independant using Shell( like the car dealership I sometimes use to fill up) then they will forward it to Shell without swiping it.

Always insist that you hand over the bonus coupon at the service station whilst purchasing fuel within the date range stated on the voucher. The voucher will be sent on and points will be credited at the end of the quarter in which the promotional coupon was valid. For example if the date ranges were 25/11/08 - 03/12/08 this promotion is for Quarter 4 08 and the points should be added after the 31st/12/08. Thats basically how it works, you may get some vouchers valid for use very early in the quarter and these may not end up crediting your account for a few months, but they do get on there. A few things to remember are always ensure the sales assistant takes the voucher from you and also note the date ranges so you know which quarter you are in and when roughly you should be expecting the points to be credited N.B its not even worth worrying about these points being missing until after the quarter has ended.

"I have had problems with not receiving the vouchers for money off fuel and earlier on some purchases not being added to the account." - I don't seem to have a problem getting or indeed using the money off vouchers, although, I had loads of problems at first with purchases being added to my account, although, fingers-crossed, that doesn't seem to be a problem now.

"I also have concerns along with the OP about the x number of top ups in a period. I have on one the go at the moment for 4 x 25 litre fills of V Power for 300 extra points (I think.) " - Up until last week, the voucher has always been taken off me at the filling station (a local one owned by Shell I beleive), but when my wife filled up at a different station, they marked a 1 on the voucher and returned it!!

The helpdesk were in chocolate teapot territory - USELESS!!
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - boxsterboy
Yes, I too have wondered about when these bonus points might be added.

The good thing is that your Shell CitiFinancial card statement clearly shows the date, type and volume of fuel used, and so the only weak link is relying on the fuel station cashier to forward the bonus point vouchers to Shell Drivers Club to award the points. I have taken to retaining the letter that comes with the vouchers and writing on this the nature of each voucher. That way at least you can double check if you rpoints have been awarded (memo to self: must double check if points have been awarded).

As with all these schemes they try and bamboozle you with details to make it as difficult as possible to see if you are getting your just Rewards!

Same as other posters above I use Shell stations as they seem to give the best price in my location and I benefit from the 3p on the Shell Citicard. Agree that the Shell Drivers' Club helpdesk is totally useless, but if you think they are bad try the Citicard one, Monty Python Bangalore version. Eventually I gave up, but on finding a UK based Citi number they did apologise and credit my account with £20. I use the card as a fuel card only, paper statements and it works OK, but don't bother phoning the helpdesk, don't waste your time and save the call charge too.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - ole cruiser
Mine has never worked and I've simply given up on it - which also means, of course, that I no longer go out of my way to buy Shell.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Pizza man
I thought the citicard only worked for fuelk over £1 a litre?

This spurred me on to check my shell points as I havent recieved any vouchers lately. I have 7300 points (about £35 in vouchers). I have checked my reward. Would it be worth contacting Shell to see why they havent sent out the vouchers yet not deducting points?
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Rats

And it gets even better, the latest T&Cs seem to have removed the "doubling up" of points when you purchase 200+ litres per month, so now you are only getting the equivilent of £0.005 per litre if you take the vouchers, and they still take an age to come, we are now into June and I am still waiting for voucher to the end of March. Think I will move to another fuel supplier!

I qualified for 300 points in Dec 08 and another 300 in Jan 09 - handed in the bonus voucher claims at that time and still no points credited.
Have written to them 4 times and all they do is make promises, but no actions. Last reply was to advise my case is escalated to a relevant dept, but I read into that as being "Put in the Bin".

It is obvious that the delay and deceit would soon put of 99% of claimants and they will have taken the profit from increased sales.
Dare I say it, but fraudulent practices are being used increasingly in marketing of products.

Assume that you also contacted driversclub@shell.co.uk

Without telling anyone of my trouble - I have had at least 5 colleagues/acquaintances/friends
mention to me there problems with 'Shell'. So this is really big when a truly global company is prepared to just disregard all of its customers.

I get annoyed by our local Shell garage constantly pressing me to take a loyalty card.
The posts above are the reason why I haven't - I just know that I would end up getting cross and I don't need that hassle.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - OldSkoOL
I was going to sign up as i use Shell in every tank if i can. But its not much of a good deal and its personal details on someone else's computer systems.

That have tiers but something like £700 of fuel gets you £10 off.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Tornadorot
My only experience of their customer service was when my card stopped working (wouldn't swipe) and I had to get another one. Got the points transferred without any hassle after emailing them the details. Has been a while since they sent me any vouchers though...
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Rats
Glad to see the thread is still going........some good news from my end, my points now seem to get added to the account promptly and all my bonus points have also been added, the first two lots manually (after a CS agent phoned me to investigate my issue) and the third one automatically.

The only problems that seem to be outstanding are the length of time it takes to get the reward vouchers, plus any bonus vouchers are now only for using the premium diesel, which we don't use !!!

If you're still experiencing problems, keep plugging away.......it might get sorted.

What fun I had when my card stopped working, I was told to phone the shell drivers club & the point that the garage were unable to add would be added to my account, I phoned & they told me the points had been added but they hadn't.
I e-mailed, got a reply back saying the points had been added, they hadn't. (each time I e-mailed, I quoted the date, amount & receipt number)
I e-mailed again and received a reply that the points had been added, they hadn't.
I e-mailed again and was advised to write to the shell drivers club enclosing the receipt which I did, the points were finally added.
Shell drivers club lied to me and didn't believe thay I had spent £45 on diesel, they needed the receipt as proof.
As a result, I now buy all my diesel from Morrisons, they have a good reward scheme, Shell have lost £910 of my trade since May this year.

I also get annoyed for the same reason. My C1 drinks nothing but V-power, it has known no other fuel, except for what was put in it at the factory. I suppose some will say that I'm wasting money. My personal information is not for sale to Shell so cheaply, any more than it is with the Nectar Card I am constantly being asked for in supermarkets.

Never had aproblem with either my Shell Reward Card (got £6.50 voucher yesterday) or my Shell/Citibank Mastercard which gives me 3% cashback(£8 to £12 month) on Shell fuel(it's also the cheapest garage in my area) so a win win for me.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - jacks
I assume many of those who have Shell Drivers Club card also have the "Shell Mastercard from Citi" to get the 3% cashback on fuel (ie 3p/litre off) and 1% on cash purchases, in addition to the reward points ???

Well - Beware - I have received a letter this morning from Shell/Citi

The 3% cashback is being reduced to 1% on fuel - effective 1-10-09

The 1% cashback on purchases is being reduced to 0.25% - effective 1-10-09

Also - if anyone was relying on it - the (free) Motor Legal Protection is ending 1-10-09 as well.

I've never had a real problem with the points, the odd one has not been credited but the cashback has been good - but in view of these cuts in cashback rates I'm off to the moneysavingexpert site to see if there is a better cashback card.
With the cuts in rewards plus the problems other BR's have experienced it hardly seems bothering with the Shell reward programme anymore.

Yes, the reduction in cash-back is disappointing! What with a punitive APR (21.9%?) if you miss a payment, makes me think I will be looking to get an alternative card. I mean, £0.01p (approx.) off per litre is hardly an incentive, is it?
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - ole cruiser

I agree. It was never really worth the hassle, and now it's completely pointless unless you are addicted to Shell anyway. As it happens, both our cars have announced firmly, in their own ways, that they don't really like Shell.

I had about 5 cards over a 6 month period they contantly stopped working and getting a new one ment wasted time on the phone on each occassion. The call centre just never got it right whatever I did. As a result I stopped recieving mail from them. It would be a good scheme but why is it so badly run. It got me so cross I dont bother collecting at all and just go elsewhere.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Hamsafar
I went onto Morrisons' B30 biodiesel blend, they have a similar card scheme. I am surprised shell don't notice I don't use the card anymore and try and tempt me back with extra vouchers.
Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - unifix
I have done very nicely out of the shell reward program. over £180 cash back and around £60 in reward points on the driver reward card program, there was no con but I admit some shell counter staff didn't know how to process the points sometimes and the Indian call center could wind up a saint.

Still I'm all for boycotting them from 1st of October to make my voice heard through voting with my feet. If others did the same (and we have a month to plan it) perhaps a european effort as I believe this has been an across europe rate cut then Shell may think again.

Otherwise the shell citi card isn't worth the effort for the 1% (obtainable on other cards) and the joys of the indian call center.

October 1st Shell boycott one month to start the campaign, spread the WORD!

I took the Shell Drivers Club and Citi credit card a couple of years ago. I very rarely now go to a Shell petrol station, usually using Morrisons and collecting their Miles vouchers which are neatly piling up in a drawer until Xmas time. They are not time bound so can be kept to either buy the Xmas shopping, or usually in the run up they have got good booze deals, deals on cd/dvd etc so that I feel I have got something worthwhile from it.

I continue to use the Citi card to pay for my fuel though, not so much for any cashback but just to keep fuel purchases separate. But always clear the balance every month.

until today i was a member of shell drivers club, but i was unaware that you had to redeem the vouchers within a certain time period,i have lost over a hundred pounds worth of points,on calling them (Turkey) i got no where so i insisted i was put through to the uk where once again they were not interested saying they had no way of telling if i had spent the vouchers or not even when there is a bar code on them,in other words i was a liar,i was never told that i had to take vouchers i had always thought that i could collect the points as i wanted to save for a tv.After reading the previous post i will be going to Morrisons from now on who can benefit from my 1000+ miles a week

Do we have any members of the forums who are still in the club??

The current double points scheme is pretty poor, in July, we filled up with 254 litres, which would normally have given us 308 points, but because of their "great" offer we only got 460 points......what a con.......

I have looked at the T & Cs and they have covered their backsides.......

Shell Drivers Club Bonus Points Vouchers - Falkirk Bairn

Used to buy Shell 90% time, used Shell CC - amassed lots of points.

Citi card withdrawn, many local Shell stations are now Jet, Murco............so I have to go out of my way to find a Shell garage. They also mucked up my points, sent emails, letters and was ignored - so I voted with my feet and use BP.

Buy BP Ultimate Diesel and collect a pittance in points however BP stations are everywhere and they always stock Ultimate - many Shell garages do not offer V-power Diesel
