You never know when you might have an accident and even the smallest prang can be an immensely stressful experience. With the initial shock taking over, many people simply forget what they should do in the event of an accident. As a result the correct details are not exchanged, the events of how the accident occurred become blurred and the battle between the insurance companies ensues.

This weekend see the clocks go back and the nation plunged into early darkness. Every year there are calls to scrap this. After all, do we really need the long lovely light summer evenings? The idea behind the clocks changing goes back many moons to the time of harvesting when more light was needed in the summer months to ensure the harvest was reaped in. It was also why the children used to have eight glorious weeks of holidays to help the farmers.

I walk my dog each morning and invariably meet up with other dog walkers. It transpires from many conversations we have, that owners seem to be having problems not about keeping their children quiet in the car but thier dogs! I found this surprising as I assumed most dogs travelled in the boot with a dog guard. Not so.

It appears that some of us ladies are putting vanity over vision by not wearing glasses whist driving when we clearly should be. The 'Vanity and Vision' poll of female motorists, conducted by Sheilas' Wheels car insurance, reveals that over a quarter (27 per cent) of female motorists should wear glasses whilst driving but do not always do so, with 10 per cent of women questioned admitting to feeling embarrassed by how they look in unfashionable specs.

As we enter the month of October, all thoughts of the summer holidays are behind us as we batten down the hatches for winter.
