Amazing car in every sense, however niggly electricals hopefully to be sorted soon.

After our Mondeo titanium x disappeared in flames in Spain this summer we decided to go for a superb, I had been pining after one for a few years, but had always ended up with a mondeo.

Decided to go for a dealer demonstrator at 6 months old, 8.5k miles and with a good option set and around 9k off the list of a new one with the same options (reverse camera, panoramic roof, 19" alloys, Tv and the full media upgrade pack).
We were put off by stories of failures on the dsg box (admittedly earlier models and golfs etc) and neither of us had ever owned an auto so we tracked down a very rare manual 190 TDI l&K (one of two available in the country at the time) in moon white.

To drive its very competent, especially in sport mode. Comfort has the feel of an old jag and the Mrs seems to prefer that one (I always get told off for leaving it in sport).
Steering is very light in all modes other than sport, but handling is fairly good and very comfortable in the correct modes. 190 engine picks up quickly and has nearly 300lbft of torque from 1750 rpm so its no slouch.
Average mpg around 48, which I think is good for a car this size, it is however far short of the 68mpg claimed average and ours is driven mostly on a roads and motorways. Uses around 15 litres of adblue for 10k miles (luckily I don't pay for this)
The seats are very comfortable and heated including the rears, the tri zone climate keeps everyone happy and the heated screen are all very worthwhile having. The ambient led lighting looks amazing at night and gives the superb a very classy feel. Space wise, I haven't seen anything that comes close but the fact the rear seats don't fold flat (unless I have missed the button to move the bench) is a real pain and severely limits the practicality. Having said that, the seat backs drop quickly and easily and I didn't buy a new car to shift wardrobes in, I'll use my L200.
Little touches like the load cover automatically springing back when the boot opens are nice too.
The safety aspect is worth noting with this car, adaptive cruise, lane assist, blind spot detection, auto braking, are all amazing and the car practically drives itself, I still find it brakes even when the car in front had moved into another lane though.
Canton sound system sounds very good once set up properly and the touchscreen is great as are voice controls. Bluetooth works very well and the TV tuner is useful when waiting for the kids at the school.
Hidden compartments galore in the cabin and the umbrellas are useful too, panoramic roof gives the cabin a far more open feeling, especially when, well its open. The self opening boot is good but won't close on the key or the internal switch, must google a hack for that.
The car is equipped with radar sensors at the front and rear which make parking a doddle, even easier with the camera and autopark. The sensors at the rear must produce a radar signal whilst driving, I have seen so many bmws Audi and mercs race up behind me then back right off. Must be setting off their snoopers, plan to install dual dashcams next week for even more "back off" ability.

So far however we have had several electrical gremlins which are currently being sorted by Skoda. This has meant that we have not had out car for 9 of the first 30 days.

Park pilot error
Throttle position error (leading to stalling)
Rear laser to open boot works 70% of the time
Rear wheel bearing shot at 9k miles
Rear vent broken on collection
Broken L&K badge on collection
Very prone to stone chips, and orange peel to paintwork on sides in certain lights.

Horton Skoda I'm Lincolnshire have been amazing in sorting these issues out and have provided an Octavia estate in the mean time, cannot fault them in any way and would certainly use them for service and maintenance work.

Looking forward to having it back completely sorted out next weekend.
