Porsche announces details of updated 911 GTS

Porsche has announced details of its updated 911 GTS range, with coupe and cabriolet variants available in rear- or all-wheel drive layouts, plus an all-wheel drive Targa. Importantly, the old GTS engine has been binned in favour of a new turbocharged engine.

Prices start at £94,316 for the Carrera GTS, rising to £108,144 for the Targa 4 GTS.

The 3.0-litre, turbocharged flat-six produces 450PS, up 20PS on the previous, naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre GTS engine, and up 30PS on the current Carrera S. Peak torque is 550Nm. All GTS versions are available with either a seven-speed manual or PDK double clutch transmission.

The manual, rear-drive Carrera GTS has the highest top speed at 193mph and its PDK-equipped equivalent has the lowest emissions and best economy of any GTS variant, at 188g/km and 34mpg, respectively. The fastest from 0-62mph is the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 Coupe PDK, taking 3.6 seconds with the aid of launch control.

GTS models are visually differentiated from other 911s by their black exterior detailing and badges, along with their wider wheel arches and black wheels. The tail lights are smoked and linked by a black-chrome strip on rear-drive Carrera models, while all-wheel drive Carrera 4 models get an illuminated light strip. Additionally, the Targa 4 GTS features now features a black roof bar.

Inside, the Sport Chrono Package with its integrated, centrally-mounted stopwatch is fitted as standard, plus there are various small GTS touches including aluminium inlays and unique stitching in the headrests of the electrically adjustable seats.
