Renault Koleos to return in 2017

Published 21 April 2016

Renault has released the first image of the all-new Koleos. The SUV will reach the UK in mid-2017 and will most likely share its platform and engines with the Nissan X-Trail. Prices will start in the region of £23,000.

Unlike the old Renault Koleos crossover, which was axed in 2010, due to poor sales, the all-new model will be an SUV. As a result it will get more emphasis on off-roading, with permanent four-wheel drive, selectable driving modes and automated descent control.

Like the Kadjar, the Koleos will be born from the Renault-Nissan alliance, so expect a lot of the tech to be carried over from the X-Trail. However, Renault is remaining tightlipped on powertrains, so it's unclear if Nissan's 1.6 four-cylinder diesel engine will make it into the Koleos.

The exterior will echo the design language of the new Megane, with sweptback LED headlights, clamshell bonnet and a large chrome grille. The Koleos will be a five seater only, with Renault promising record levels of head and legroom.
