Range Rover Evoque Convertible coming early 2016

Land Rover has confirmed that the Range Rover Evoque Convertible will go on sale in spring 2016. The soft-top version of the desirable Evoque won't be cheap though with prices starting at a hefty £47,500 for the TD4 HSE Dynamic.

Available as a coupe only, the Evoque Convertible gets a fabric roof that can be lowered in 18 seconds and works up to 30mph. It folds down flush with the rear bodywork and Land Rover claims it is the longest and widest fabric roof currently fitted to any vehicle on sale.

It comes with the same range of engines as the standard Evoque including the new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel which returns official fuel economy of up to 55mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 149g/km.

Being a convertible, boot space has been cut compared to the standard Evoque Coupe, but the convertible still has a decent 251 litres of load space while safety features include roll-over bars hidden in the rear bodywork. These deploy in 90 milliseconds in the event of the vehicle rolling over.

As you'd expect the roof comes with a layer of acoustic insulation to reduce outside noise ensuring interior comfort on a par with five-door Evoque. This is a premium SUV after all.

The interior gets a new high-resolution 10.2-inch touchscreen debuting the latest Jaguar Land Rover infotainment system called InControl Touch Pro. The system has smartphone integration, 3G connectivity and door-to-door navigation.
