Nissan has introduced a 190S 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine to the Pulsar range. The new DIG-T model also gets suspension upgrades and revised steering to give a sportier edge. The Pulsar DIG-T is available to order, priced from £19,645.

The new engine gives fairly swift performance, with 0-62mph taken care of in 7.7 seconds. The extra performance does take its toll on economy, but not significantly so – the official figure is 49.5mpg, with emissions of 134g/km.

Buyers who choose the DIG-T will also get a range of chassis improvements. The body shell has been reinforced to increase rigidity, plus there are revised damper and spring settings to increase stiffness and reduce body roll. Additionally the steering is quicker and more responsive.

Wheels are 18-inches and have wider tyres than other Pulsar variants to increase grip levels. There are styling enhancements including a chrome exhaust finisher and different headlights. The cabin features a unique trim finisher and DIG-T specific stitching.

The Nissan Pulsar DIG-T is available in three trim levels – Acenta, N-Tec and Tekna – with prices from £19,645.
