Motorpoint is selling the Nissan Tiida medium family hatchback for less than the cost of an entry-level Nissan Micra.

It won't be a familiar name to buyers, as Tiida has never been officially available in the UK, but it's a big seller on the continent. It's about the size of the old Almera and went on sale in 2006.

The car supermarket is offering the spacious 1.6 SE with Bluetooth, Metallic Paint and Parking Sensors as standard for only £8,999 - almost a £1,000 cheaper than the compact Nissan Micra 1.2 Visia [80] from a franchised dealer. All models come with three year's manufacturer's warranty.

anyone buying the Nissan Tiida using in-house finance will receive comprehensive breakdown cover absolutely free of charge from Motorpoint - saving some £250.
