Kia sales 'have increased by 53%'

Fri, 11 Dec 2009
In news that could be of interest to those looking to buy a new car, Kia Motors Corporation has reported a global year-on-year sales increase of 53.2 per cent for November.

Managing director of the UK branch Michael Cole commented that although Korea and North America were the most notable regions, Britain had greatly contributed to the results.

"It's true that we have done very well on scrappage, where customers have recognised the great value for money we offer," he confirmed.

Mr Cole went on to point out that independently of the cash-for-bangers initiative, the retail market in the UK had grown some 0.5 per cent over the past year

The managing director asserted the success was expected to continue into 2010.

Results were boosted by the C-segment Cerato overseas, with the B-segment Rio and Sportage 4x4 also delivering strong sales.

Mr Cole recently expressed optimism at how the Venga and the new Sorento, to be introduced onto the UK market next year, would further bolster brand growth.
