Security credentials of Seat Ibiza recognised

Thu, 18 Jun 2009
People who take security credentials into account when buying a car may be impressed with a Seat model.

The Ibiza has just received recognition for the fact it is a hard auto to steal or break into.

Clinching top spot in the supermini category at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards, the auto received a maximum five-star rating in the Theft Of group and a four-star score in the Theft From class.

The manufacturer expressed satisfaction at receiving this type of recognition.

Peter Wyhinny, head of Seat UK, said: "To see the Ibiza secure such an impressive vote of confidence in its security is ... very important."

This is the first time the Spanish company has received such an accolade.

Established in 2004, the honours are designed to reward firms working hard to make life as difficult as possible for criminals.

Meanwhile, motorists who install extra security devices in their autos may find the cost of their car insurance falls.
