The Cost of Insurance
The cost of insurance varies greatly depending on your individual circumstances. Obviously the main factors in the equation are the driver's age, medical status and driving history (such as how many points are on your licence) and the make and model of the car (including whether it has been modified in any way) but there are other considerations that are taken into account.
These include: whether you have made any claims in the last five years; your occupation; where the car is usually kept overnight (for example in a garage, on a private driveway or on the street); whether the car has security features fitted such as an approved alarm and immobiliser; how expensive the parts are in the event of an accident; and, perhaps most importantly, your address. It may seem ironic that someone the same age as you, with the same history and the same car can get a cheaper quote but it is widely known that there are crime hotspots around the country and you will have to pay more for your insurance if you happen to live in one of the "hottest" postcode areas.
