51 plate 306 meridian 2.0 hdi - whirring noise? - kev bristol

i have a constant whirring noise when the engine is revved up , it increases and de-creases when accelerating and de-cellerating (even without throttle) its ok when its ticking over , can anyone help please

Where from - when you lift the bonnet and tweak the 'throttle cable' ?

Unfortunately it doesn' t have a throttle cable so you will need an assistant.

alternators can make a whirring noise .but you should check the cam belt could be a pulley or the belt .

Unfortunately it doesn' t have a throttle cable so you will need an assistant.

Peter - my 99T HDi had a cable from the accelerator pedal to the top of the engine, which I call the throttle cable. I know, because I took some slack out to improve response.

I stand corrected, I don't think my 406 or C5 have one.
