VW Fox - SORN and Insurance - Wisp324

Our daughter is away for 6 months. We'd like to take her car off the road (as the tax and insurance is paid by the bank of you know who). SORN seems straight forward. Insurance is not. The existing insurer has suggested that we pay the full renewal and then 'suspend' the insurance and when it goes back on the road, they will refund a proportion of the premium. It wasn't clear if that meant the car was insured or not. It will be sat on a driveway. The other option suggested by the insurer was to lock the car away in a garage and they would only charge a small fee for that. This is isn't an option at the moment.

There doesn't appear to be any option available to insure a car against theft or a roof slate falling on it without paying the full premium; even though it is not going to be taken on the road. . Is this correct or have I missed something? Thanks!

Some companies are offering SORN insurance - do a google search. Couple of examples:
