I screwed up! Any advice would be great. - Iscrewedup

Hi,

I moved house back in october from Northampton to Bath, and forgot to inform DVLA about the adress change.

I was riding my 125 today when I realised, I had not paid tax, and it was due since november! I rang the DVLA today, who said I would have to pay the backdated tax and a £80 fine.

I am completely fine with that (after all, it was my stupidity).

I have been reading around, and have heard that you get a fine + court summons. What sort of trouble may I be in for having ignored (not recieved) these letters? Is there any way I can mitigate this?

Any help/advice would be fantastic. I am currently far too worried about having to pay a large fine.

Thank you in advance!

Hi ,
I don't think that your problems that great .

You contacted the dvla ,you didn't get stopped by the police .I don't think you will have to pay more than the back tax and the mandatory £80 fine .

Don't worry about it .

My Gwad an honest man???????

Dont' worry about Police involvement or any Court involvement.

Where the tax of a vehicle exprires and no Sorn is made, by law, DVLA can impose an £80 supplement which they are doing. You obviously admitted using the vehicle so they also want back tax.

Comply with them and the sun will shine on you....
