2001 bmw 320d E46 - central locking working intermittendly - ianfin

The central locking has started to fail regualrly and i need to operate using the key. You need to open the door with the key, (setting the alarm off ) and operating the locks with the central lock in the console.

Can this be fixed easily and economically?.

I would think the remote key is in trouble.These are a sealed unit.New key from Bmw dealer comes pre-programmed to car and costs around £100.

Had similar issue with wifeys BMW Mini Cooper, dealer replaced interior mirror since it contained the transmitter parts, no problems after. Probably not DIY since it will require programming in.
