peugeot 106 diesel 1.5 1997 - steering wheel pulling back on full lock... - liammcl

Hi,
Any ideas, what would cause my car's steering wheel to pull itself back when moving slowly at full lock?
(The steering wheel pulls back about 4 inches , once every second, when moving on full lock)

It doesn't make any noise when stationary from full lock to full lock..
& It doesn't have power assist.

Thanks for any ideas..

Furthest I've got , is that it maybe the steering column?
I've wiggled it a bit.. I dunno if it is normal for it to move like this?

ps there are clunks and clanks all the time, maybe driveshaft issues too...
Thanks
Liam

I take it you mean that the steering is pulling back towards the straight ahead position, I would say the most likely culpret is a disintegrating CV joint.

Thanks,
On ebay there are driveshafts for £35 with a 2 year guarantee.
I'll probably get a couple of those and have a go swapping them.

Here is the noises it makes & the car is tugging back in the video.

I am googling "what happens when a cv joint fails"
