1.8 8v running a weber carb - 1988 vw scirocco running problem - mactat2

Have had this problem before in june and managed to sort it by fitting the following...new coil, ign module, dist cap, rotor arm, vac pipes, and fuel pump. Last week the problem returned and i urgently need to get the car back on the road. It starts first turn of the key every timeticks over and warms up fine, while stationary will rev fine, but as soon as you put it in gear and lift the clutch it stutters and loses power, though it doesnt completely cut out. I tested the coil as per instructions in the haynes manual and the readings were nowhere near the ohms ranges stated in the manual, could it be the coil again?

All advice much appreciated.

cheers

Mac

In the days of old fashioned ignition systems this usually indicated failure of the little condenser next to the contact breaker. By 1988 the system usually had an electronic pack feeding the coil which could have a component failed giving this same effect, worth checking that.
