ford focus 1,6 2005 - air con fault - nig65

hi, i have a problem with my wifes car, she has a focus edge 1,6 2005, the problem is the air con pump is coming on and clicking on/off also the fan is coming on causing the revs to drop nearly stalling the car, all this happens even though the air con is switched off, has anyone had a simular problem. thanks

The a/con pump is designed to switch on and off.However if the gas charge is too low then the switching will be more frequent.The a/c system will automatically engage if you have the distribution control set to windscreen ,even if the a/c switch is in the off position.hth

hi, would that also cause the fan to kick in and cause the revs to drop to a point where the car stalls,

Possibly,as the engine control cannot compensate fast enough.Also the fan will always kick in if the a/c is switched on.Take the car to an indy a/c specialist.hth

hi,i didnt realise that the A/C opperates even when its switched off if the setting is set to screen, this would explain why the fan is also coming on, thank you for your help.

Hi, what would be the best way to disconnect the ac, would it be best to remove the fuse or remove the relay, and would this cause any other problems by doing this. Thanks
