BMW 320d Sport 90k Miles - Travelling across the Alps - Issus
My car is in VGC but would appreciate your advice on those mechanical areas of the car which might need checking prior to what mabe an arduous journey. Naturally brakes are my top concern. Again your advice will be appreciated.

Why don't you just book it in for a service?

Use a local independent garage.

Probably less than a £100 and you keep clean hands!

Brakes, tyres, exhaust, cooling system, air con (if you want to be comfortable), suspension links and bushes..

Engine gearbox and rear axle oil, leaks. etc..

Apart from the brakes tyres and suspension - which could all threaten life and limb if unsound, cooling and lubrication systems must be 100% on those roads.

To suggest a £100 quick service is going to check all those properly is risible. (a full lubriication service using fully snythetic oil would cost £100 in parts alone. )

I would think checking the coolant and cooling system properly alone would be 30 mins plus...

I would expect the road surfaces to be in good condition. The roads in Bavaria and Switzerland put ours to shame...
