corsa 1.3cdti 2005 - Help, cant get car in 1st or reverse - cdti

Hi on friday i got in my car and started it up, when to engage 1st but it wouldnt go in, so I had to start off in 2nd, when I try to put it in reverse it just grinds and wont go in, its also gone very notchy when going thru the gears too. However with the engine off it goes in to 1st and R smoothly. ? what could of happenend? :(

The clutch is not dis-engaging properly. Is it a cable clutch or hydraulic one. Regards Peter

It appears your car has a dual mass flywheel and it may have failed. Regards Peter

i had the DMF repalced about 2 months ago

hydraulic i beleive . the clucth doesnt slip at all and im still driving it to work and back, starting off in 2nd and switching the engine off to reverse :/ does this mean i need a new clutch kit?

Slave cylinder failure. It should have been changed. Have you check the fluid level.

where abouts is the fluid? so the slave cyliner should of been changed at the same time as the dmf?

Failure of the plastic gearbox linkage is very common on the petrol Corsa C.

Perhaps the proud makers of the marque have elected to carry this hallowed tradition forward.
