Peugeot 206 - 206 DW8 Diesel Pump Timing - hodso

ive changed the head gasket on my engine, before removing i locked down the crank, cam and diesel pump.

fitted a new cam belt now when running its very lumpy on tick over and smokes.

been told the desiel pump timing is out but how do i alter and which way

If its running quiet and lumpy its retarded, very noisey and lumpy its advanced. I believe this engine has an adjustable pump drive hub centre, to advance turn it in the opposite direction to engine rotation, to retard vice versa. You could have the belt a tooth out of course.

There's an access bolt down among where the hard lines screw onto the diesel pump,this is removed and a dial gauge/adapter is screwed in place,then it's set to factory lift value readings.Nutshell it'd be cheaper to go to your local diesel specialist,they may even have the adapter for converting hardline sonic pulses into strobe timing,a lot easier.

thanks for all your help, problem proved to be a timing out, retimed, all now working ok
