On the C5 there is a particulate warning light which will come on when the filter needs replacing. Also there is an "Eloys low" filter which comes on when it needs replacing.
I had the Eloys low light come on .
The Citroen garage said the cost would be £600 , why ? Because the particulate filter should be changed as well. The fact that it didnt require a filter because the warning light didnt come on was apparently irelevant.
I had the fluid changed at another garage who warned me that they could not reset the warning light. The light would always come on for a few seconds after starting the car and running for 1/2 mile . This was OK . However, not only did the Eloy light come on but the diesel filter was blocked, wipers operating, service windows lights came on etc.
I brought this to the attention of the garage. The Eloys light was acceptable but not the other. They said it was a fault with the software and they couldnt get their computer diagnostic system to clear it. Give them their due they tried to reset the fault lights . I came away with the impression that they simply did not employ staff of sufficent technical expertise to do the job. Finally the garage decided there was a fault with the level switch and they would have to change the Elyo container as well because the switch was part of the container. This would cost £300. If they had said should they be proved wrong they would accept the cost; they wouldn't so I didnt have the job done.
I need a competent computer specialist !
Has anyone had experience of this problem and any ideas on how to clear it ?
