Ford Fiesta 1.25 zetec - gearbox noise (reverse) - 2nddan1

The car in question makes a whirring noise when reversing only. Its a 1999 petrol model with 128,000 trouble free miles and has no oil leaks from the box and plenty of oil inside it. The clutch was replaced at 90,000 and doesnt judder.

Probably the reverse idler bearing or the gear itself is damaged, not much you can do about it unless you take the gearbox out but the chances are it won't give you a problem anyway - apart from the noise..
