Audi A2 - federation of engine remaufacturers - billmiddleton

The oil consumption on my A2 Tdi has increased dramatically. I have been advised to consider approaching a member of the Federation of engine remanufacturers.

Would they be able to determine the source of the problem (valve stems, bore, etc) and "remanufacture" the engine as necessary? Or should I ask my usual garage to determine the problem and ask them to have the engine "remaufactured" by a member of the FER?

I'd strongly recommend doing a search on companies offering to fit re-con engines, there's been some very iffy ones.
